Speakers and representatives

Timothy Douglas

Head of Policy and Campaigns, Propertymark

Timothy joined Propertymark in July 2015 having previously worked as a researcher for MEPs and for a Minister in the House of Commons. He leads on the organisation’s policy and campaign activity across Westminster, Whitehall, the devolved parliaments, and local authorities.

Timothy helps our members understand key policy issues and legislative changes as well as engaging with external stakeholders to ensure we maintain a coherent approach to policy and campaigns within the current political environment.

Maxine Fothergill

Immediate Past President, ARLA Propertymark

Maxine is the Managing Director and Founder of Amax Estates based in Gravesend who have been successfully trading for over 20 years. Specialising in lettings, sales and block management, she is very proud of the achievements her firm has gained demonstrated by the 26 industry awards it has achieved.

Maxine originally started in the industry in 1988 and is a member of NAEA Propertymark and ARLA Propertymark, a Fellow of IRPM and a RICS Associate. She is also a trainer of landlords and agents and has successfully trained over 5000 delegates to date.

Gillian Hunt

Regional Executive, NAEA Propertymark

Gill has lived in Jersey for 30 years and has been in estate agency for 20 years. She established Hunt Estates in 2015, previously having been a founding partner of another local estate agency.

Gill has a reputation for honesty and integrity; keeping her clients informed, and works hard to achieve a speedy and smooth transaction for all parties. She sells properties in all price ranges, and through her extensive networking, acts on a significant number of local high value properties which are often maintained on her confidential register. She is passionate about ensuring high standards of professionalism and conduct, and regularly organises education, training and new legislation updates.

Ed Jones

Head of Lending, Butterfield Mortgages Limited

Ed joined Butterfield in 2017 bringing with him over 17 years’ experience within the finance industry. He manages our lending and credit operations team in the Channel Islands driving forward our credit offering, including our local mortgages to our clients.

Liana Loporto-Browne

Immediate Past President, NAEA Propertymark

Liana has over 22 years’ experience working in both large corporate and boutique agencies and enjoys the thrill of sharing in client and buyer journeys. She started her career at the largest real estate company in her native Malta, before re-locating to the UK in what was supposed to be a sabbatical. Her experience in ‘the most vibrant property market in the world’ with one of the leading corporate agencies in London meant she never left.

Katharine Marshall

Partner, Ogier

Katharine works in the Property team at Ogier specialising in acting for clients in relation to institutional Channel Island property finance as well as commercial property transactions and residential development. She deals with all aspects of acquisition and sales including conditional contracts, options and joint ventures and has particular expertise in the drafting and negotiation of complex joint venture and collaboration agreements, together with advising on specialised funding structures for property transactions. 

Kay Pemberton

Marketing Manager, Japanese Knotweed Ltd

Kay has worked for Japanese Knotweed Ltd (JKL) since 2016, managing the company’s website, online presence, exhibitions and advertising. She writes editorial on the subject of Japanese knotweed for industry publications along with case studies that detail work completed by JKL.

In 2020 JKL completed a £1.3m knotweed excavation project and completed a further 190 other excavation contracts in the same year. They have over 5000 herbicide treatment contracts running in the UK, catering for commercial and residential customers.

Helen Ruelle

Director of Local Legal Services, Ogier

In her 16 years as an employment lawyer and trusted adviser to the boards of local companies, Helen has advised not just on contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, but also data protection, GDPR compliance, competition law, local M&A and relocations for businesses and UHNWs.

Michael Smith

Head of Qualifications, Propertymark

Michael joined Propertymark to head up its Awarding Body in June 2016.  His career has focussed on education policy, assessment and the research and development of occupational and professional standards and skills solutions for a variety of industries and professions. He has held a variety of senior roles in organisations specialising in workforce and skills development and assessment and accreditation in the UK and overseas, having supported employers, employer organisations and other stakeholders through the development and delivery of professional qualifications and apprenticeships.
