Speakers

Martyn Baum

Martyn is a Past President and former NAEA Propertymark board member. His role allowed him to regularly commentate on the housing market in national press and radio. He has been invited to be part of advisory panels with MHCLG around transaction reform and leasehold issues.

Martyn's 20-year career in estate agency has seen him work with various firms within the industry from small independents to national corporations managing everything from cold start offices to acquisitions. His current role is Regional Manager for a seven branch multi-disciplinary agency where he is responsible for the strategy, process, and delivery of the residential sales division.

Bethan Jones

Rent Smart Wales

Bethan secured a BSC (Hons) in Environmental Health in 1989 and Diploma in Housing in 1993. She has managed environmental health and housing services since 1991 in Bristol and Cardiff. Her experience includes private and public sector housing work in particular HMO enforcement, Empty homes and Compulsory Purchase and Renewal Areas, group repair and renovation grant activities.

A key aspect of her work throughout her career has involved nurturing partnerships with local landlords, voluntary organisations, and Universities. Bethan currently leads Cardiff Council’s response to Part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 (brand name Rent Smart Wales) following the designation of Cardiff Council as the Single Licensing Authority for delivery of the legislation across Wales. 

Kay Pemberton

Japanese Knotweed Ltd

Kay has worked for Japanese Knotweed Ltd (JKL) since 2016, managing the company’s website, online presence, exhibitions and advertising. She writes editorial on the subject of Japanese knotweed for industry publications along with case studies that detail work completed by JKL.

In 2020 JKL completed a £1.3m knotweed excavation project and completed a further 190 other excavation contracts in the same year. They have over 5000 herbicide treatment contracts running in the UK, catering for commercial and residential customers.
