Bowen is a long established independent firm of Estate Agents, Valuers, and Chartered Surveyors with a heritage dating back to 1862. The firm operates a network of four offices providing comprehensive property services across Shropshire, North and Mid Wales, and into Cheshire. The firm’s roots began in Oswestry with founder Thomas Whitfield, originally trading as Whitfield & Sons. Over more than 160 years, the business has evolved through several generations of partners. In 1933 W.A. Bowen joined the firm, eventually becoming the sole proprietor in 1937. In 1967 the firm became known as Bowen Son and Watson after W.A. Bowen was joined by his sons, Ted and Bill, and partner Jack Watson.The firm expanded into North Wales with an Office at Wrexham in 2001 and a Llangollen base in 2007. During 2019/2020 the firm amalgamated with another long-standing local agency, Kent Jones & Co of 125 years standing, to strengthen its presence in Wrexham,also acquiring Grow Property and Grow Rentals in 2024. The firm has now undergone a major re-brand, moving from "Bowen Son & Watson with Kent Jones" to simply Bowen, reflecting its modern, data-driven approach to marketing. As an RICS regulated firm, Bowen provides a wide array of professional property services overseen by experienced Chartered Surveyors providing Expert guidance for buying, selling, or renting, backed by local insider knowledge. A Surveying Dept at Oswestry provides full RICS survey suites, valuations for probate, insurance, matrimonial purposes, and expert witness reports. The Property Auctions Dept is a specialist division that has successfully sold property by auction for five generations, currently holding popular quarterly events at the Lion Quays Resort.
