According to the National Careers Service, the typical starting salary for an estate agent is £15,000. As you progress in your career this has the potential to rise up to £40,000 for an experienced role such as a branch manager. You may also earn extra fees based on commission and sales targets.

As it stands in England the simple answer is no. However, requirements differ in Scotland and Wales and between estate agents and letting agents. Qualifications will help to quickly improve your knowledge and skills related to property and look great on your CV. 

You do not usually need previous experience when you first start out, although customer service or sales experience will be helpful. What matters most is an enquiring mind and a willingness to learn. A genuinely personable character is a starter. Ability to understand clients’ needs, good communication skills and a focus on finding solutions is important. Typical skills employers look for are general IT skills, organisational skills and people skills. A driving licence is usually required to travel to properties.
