ARLA Propertymark candidate
Hope McKendrick MARLA
Director, Intus Lettings
View bio
Having worked within the lettings industry for over 13 years, progressing from branch operations through to board-level leadership with Intus Lettings, I’ve experienced first-hand both the opportunities and the challenges facing agents across our sector.
Our industry is currently navigating one of the biggest periods of legislative and regulatory change in years. From compliance pressures and evolving landlord responsibilities to increasing consumer expectations, there has never been a more important time for members to have practical, approachable representation from people who truly understand the realities of agency life.
If elected, I want to be a strong and supportive voice for members, helping agents navigate change while continuing to promote professionalism, standards, and positivity across the industry.
Over the coming weeks I’ll be sharing more about my campaign, connecting with members, and discussing the areas I believe are most important for the future of our profession.
I’d be hugely grateful for your support when voting opens, and I look forward to engaging with many of you throughout the process.

Hello, I'm Michelle Masiglat-Cook, Lettings Director at Stirling Ackroyd London Bridge and I'm proud to stand for Vice President of ARLA Propertymark.
I’ve spent nearly two decades in estate agency, worked in both sales and lettings! I'm also a working mum of two young children, balancing full time leadership role with family. If I get a moment will squeeze in weekly 90 minutes Hyrox session! I'm also proud to have recently achieved my ARLA Propertymark Fellowship.
I am standing because I'm passionate about our lettings industry and the people within it. We are facing the biggest legislative changes since 2019, driven by the Renters Rights Act. Therefore, members need strong, proactive support more than ever.
As Vice President, I want to champion positive change - supporting agents to upskill, promoting education and training and empowering our members to confidently guide both our landlords and tenants through this evolving landscape. I will advocate, represent, and where possible lobby for our members - ensuring your voices are heard and that our industry continues to move forward with professionalism, confidence, and integrity.
If you believe in what I stand for I’d genuinely appreciate your vote! Let's make a real difference together. Thank you!

With over 32 years of experience across property sales, lettings, management, and auctions, I bring a deep and practical understanding of the industry to my candidacy for re-election to the Propertymark Board of Directors. As owner and Managing Director of Sealeys Walker Jarvis, I oversee a business that operates across both residential and commercial markets throughout Kent, delivering professional, client-focused services where integrity and client interests remain at the forefront of every transaction.
My commitment to raising standards within the property sector is reflected in my current role on the Propertymark Board, where I help shape and promote best practice across estate and letting agencies, as well as through my work training new commercial agents within the industry for Propertymark. I would be delighted to continue in both capacities. I have built my career on strong leadership, effective negotiation, and the firm belief that long-term success in this industry is founded on trust, transparency, and consistently high standards of service.
Beyond my professional responsibilities, I am actively engaged in supporting my local community. Through Sealeys Walker Jarvis we have an active Charity and Community Programme, and I serve as Vice-Chairman of Walk Tall, a charity dedicated to supporting young people. I also hold a Non-Executive Director position at Rosherville, contributing to governance across a group of companies serving the local authority. My previous board experience includes serving as Vice-Chairman of Ebbsfleet United Football Club.
I am also the author of The Estate Agent Who Was Loved, a book that explores how estate agents and business owners can build trust, foster long-term relationships, and establish a positive reputation within their communities. It reflects my core belief that successful businesses are built not solely on transactions, but on integrity, service, and meaningful community engagement.
I remain committed to representing members, strengthening professional standards, and supporting the continued evolution of Propertymark and the property industry.
What serving on the Board means
How it all links together
Propertymark Board
The Board meets regularly throughout the year to set the strategic direction and monitor performance against objectives. The majority of the Board comprises Member Directors, each serving a four-year term with an option to stand for re-election for a second term. The Voluntary roles include three representatives of NAEA Propertymark (including NAEA Commercial and NAVA Propertymark) and three representatives of ARLA Propertymark.
Regulatory Board
This is a new body, created by the Propertymark Board but independent of Propertymark, overseeing professional standards, regulatory policy and disciplinary frameworks. The Regulatory Board is an important step forward in consumer credibility and separates regulation from representation. Co-opted Professional Members will play an important role on the Board. These are voluntary roles and not full voting members, but crucial in providing professional insight.
presidents
Presidents are elected to represent members and act as key spokespeople for the sector. They are regularly interviewed by the media and invited to speak at a wide range of events, both nationally and internationally. The Presidency is supported by Propertymark staff and the wider Presidential team. Members are elected first as Vice Presidents, progress to President Elect in their second year, and take on the role of President in their third year.
Focused look at The Presidential Team and Propertymark Board
The Presidential Team
Vice Presidents act as ambassadors for the profession. They support high standards and represent the views of members. They work closely with Propertymark HQ to share insight from across the industry. Propertymark has Presidential Teams representing sales agents, letting agents, commercial agents, inventory clerks, auctioneers and valuers. The teams work collaboratively in the best interests of Propertymark and the property sector as a whole.
Entry into the team is through the Vice President role, moving into the President Elect role in year two and becoming President in the third year of their term. Years one and two are vital in preparing individuals for their third year as President where, as part of their duties, they will Chair their divisional Advisory Panel and Regional Executive meetings, attend Propertymark Board meetings and act as a high-profile ambassador for Propertymark and its members.
The Propertymark Board
The Board’s core role is to agree the strategic direction, purpose and culture of the organisation; set priorities and objectives; and safeguard its long-term sustainability. Predominantly made up of working practitioners, the Board combines real-world industry insight with independent oversight. Together, they ensure that Propertymark remains focused on delivering long-term, sustainable value for its members and upholding the highest standards of governance, overseeing performance and risk, scrutinising reports and proposals from the Senior Management Team.
Through structured Board and Committee meetings, Directors consider both routine and strategic decisions, ensuring that governance is transparent, accountable and aligned with the organisation’s values. Directors are collectively responsible for decisions taken by the Board and are expected to act with integrity, declare and manage any conflicts of interest, and uphold legal, ethical and fiduciary duties.
As representatives of a member-led organisation, they balance practitioner insight with their responsibility to act in the best interests of Propertymark as a whole. Successful member-elected Directors will serve an initial four-year term.
