People, Property and Professionals: A joint approach to making the conveyancing process easier for consumers in Northern Ireland, has been led by Mary-Lou Press, Vice President NAEA Propertymark and Partner at Alexander Reid and Frazer in Downpatrick. The agreement clarifies expectations for selling agents, purchaser’s surveyor, vendor’s solicitor and purchaser’s solicitor, to front-load the gathering and sharing of information and reduce the need to raise enquiries – responses to which slow down the whole process and lengthen transactions.

This is excellent news for members and we are delighted to have reached this agreement. This is a crucial development in increasing trust within our networks as part of wider work to build stronger relationships throughout the conveyancing process which should lead to greater understanding of each other’s role and establish a constructive dialogue.

We’ve worked hard to get the balance right, and existing processes are well established, therefore a show of intent that partners will work together to accelerate the process is really encouraging.
