Energy Performance of Buildings - Industry Update

England and Wales are in the middle of a significant regulatory change within the built environment, and the PRS is impacted more than most sectors.

Energy Efficiency

Tim Thomas, Propertymark Policy and Campaigns Officer, will be joined by Andrew Parkin, director at Elmhurst Energy and current Chair of the Property Energy Professionals Association, to highlight these changes and the planned pace of this change, as well as providing some thoughts on the impacts on the PRS and other housing sectors.

Director, Elmhurst Energy

Andrew is a director at Elmhurst Energy and current Chair of the Property Energy Professionals Association. With a background as an energy assessor, he now works with Government and industry steering groups to drive the use of EPCs and DECs in government energy efficiency initiatives, policies and regulation. He also advises on improvements in technical documentation and standards. Andrew has had involvement with the launch and development of PAS 2035, and is a key member of Retrofit Assessor Standard (BS40104) Working Group.

Policy and Campaigns Officer, Propertymark

Tim is leading on Welsh policy for the Private Rented Sector. Prior to joining the Propertymark team, Tim amassed over fifteen years’ experience working in policy and research roles including roles with several Welsh local authorities, third sector organisations and more recently was the Campaigns and Public Affairs Officer at the National Residential Landlords Association.
