Navigating the Employment Rights Act 2025

The new Labour government introduced the Employment Rights Act in December 2025, fulfilling promises set out in their Plan to Make Work Pay. The Act brings the most significant changes to employee rights in a generation.

The changes are designed to give more security to employees, but they also carry risks. With increased rights comes the potential for more claims, workplace disputes and therefore increased employer liability. HR leaders and business owners will need to be prepared.

In this course, the Longmores Employment team will explain what the changes mean for your business, including:

  • Unfair dismissal rights
  • Basic rights from day one including sick pay, parental, paternity and bereavement leave
  • Increased harassment obligations
  • Increased scope for employees to bring employment tribunal claims
