Introduction of Regulatory Board marks a significant step for Propertymark

The new Board formalises the separation between Propertymark’s regulatory and representative functions, ensuring that regulation is independent, impartial and firmly focused on the public interest. This approach aligns us with best practice across other regulated professional sectors, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to high standards and accountability and strengthening professionalism, transparency and public trust across the property sector.

By embedding independence at the heart of our regulatory structure, we are strengthening consumer protection while also supporting members by reinforcing confidence in regulated property professionals.

The introduction of Propertymark’s new Regulatory Board is the next significant step in our journey to strengthen professionalism and public trust in the sector.

We are committed to the separation of regulatory and representative functions, embedding transparency, and putting the public interest at the heart of everything we do. By doing this, we are aligning ourselves with best professional practice, ensuring our processes are impartial, accountable, and robust.

This move demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the professional integrity of our members – and ensuring that consumer protection and high professional standards come before self-interest.

Opportunities for members to get involved

Alongside independent Regulatory Board Members, Propertymark is also inviting members to play an active role in the new structure through Co-opted Professional Member (Member Representative) positions.

These voluntary roles allow Propertymark members to bring professional insight, sector knowledge and independent judgement to support the Board’s work. While not voting Board members, Co-opted Professional Members play a vital advisory and scrutiny role, helping to ensure regulation remains effective, proportionate and grounded in professional practice.

This is a meaningful opportunity for members to contribute to the future of regulation, support high professional standards and help build trust with consumers and the wider housing market.
