A day of learning and inspiration
Sponsored by Rightmove, this year's event brought together an exceptional line-up of speakers, from household names to influential voices in policy, economics, and mental health. Among them were TV presenter and property expert Kirstie Allsopp, leading cyberpsychologist Dr Elaine Kasket, political journalist Daisy McAndrew, and renowned psychiatrist and author Professor Steve Peters.
Dr Kasket’s keynote offered a thought-provoking look at our relationship with technology, urging professionals not to disconnect but instead to engage mindfully. Her message that “technology provides the connectivity, but it’s down to us to do the connecting” struck a powerful chord.
Professor Peters followed with his acclaimed 'Chimp Paradox' framework, encouraging attendees to take control of their emotional wellbeing to improve decision-making and performance.
Kirstie Allsopp, in conversation with Propertymark sales and letting division Presidents-Elect Mary-Lou Press MNAEA and Megan Eighteen MARLA, captivated the audience with her reflections on a 25-year TV career and candid insights into confidence, visibility, and women in the industry. Responding to a question about being comfortable presenting on camera, she advised, “Do your job to the best of your ability, and don’t worry too much—if you know your onions, it will be good.”
Sessions that delivered practical value
Our carefully curated breakout sessions gave delegates the chance to dive deeper into specialist areas. From boosting business revenue through smart marketing, to legal compliance and the future of housing policy, these sessions ensured there was something for every interest and career stage.
Inventories and compliance experts Sian Hemming-Metcalfe and Daniel Evans delivered stark reminders on the risks of non-compliance, backed by real audit data showing where many agents fall short—especially on EPCs, client money protection, and material information.
Another standout session saw auctioneers from NAVA Propertymark—led by division President Stuart Collar-Brown, immediate Past President Richard Worrall, and advisory panel members Chris Platts and Melfyn Williams—join jewellery specialist Izzie Balmer for a fun and educational “Bang Your Own Gavel” experience, which saw a bottle of fizz auctioned for £1,200.
Building better businesses
One of the day's most practical sessions featured business leaders discussing sustainable growth and marketing. Property statistician Chris Watkin and We Are Unchained founder Simon Leadbetter shared high-impact strategies for brand visibility, while Christian Balshen of Rightmove reminded attendees that “listening is more important than trying to fix everything” when it comes to tech adoption and customer experience.
Celebrating community
As ever, the conference provided valuable time for networking, catching up with peers, and speaking directly with Propertymark staff. Feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive. David Powell from Andrews Property Group summed up the atmosphere, saying:
“Today was a day of valuable insight, networking and forward-thinking discussions. I’ve left here with new knowledge, innovative ideas, and a renewed sense of community within the industry”.
