Startups selected for REACH 2024 program
Eight companies have been selected to receive investment and support from the REACH UK 2024 technology scale-up program, run by Second Century Ventures (SCV) in partnership with Propertymark and TDS. The project represents a strategic investment in high-potential companies positioned to deliver significant value across the property industry.
Rent control repercussions
The Housing (Scotland) Bill was introduced on 26 March 2024 and Section 1 raises a key contention – a commitment to introduce rent controls decided by local authorities. As the Bill is proceeding unaltered, the Scottish Government has ignored sector feedback which outlines the new legislation could do more harm than good for prospective tenants struggling to find a place to live.
And the rest is politics: How Propertymark amplifies member voices
To represent Propertymark members’ views and the property sector to ensure their voices are heard, we interpret key policy developments and lobby for change. Working with members, we research and survey to develop evidence-based arguments to campaign for policy change across the devolved nations on issues, including supply of property, tenancy management, economic crime, property taxation, enforcement, material information, and welfare reform.
Next steps for Smart Data-driven home buying and selling
The UK Government has set out the actions it will take over the next two years to facilitate the data economy and drive growth and innovation in a range of sectors including the property market. By Summer 2024, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) is expected to launch some pilot projects which will inform future digitalisation of the home buying and selling process.
